Elizabeth Gilbert spoke about a friend whose inspiration often approached like a speeding train.   She could just feel it was coming in the distance and  if she did not grab that pencil and piece of paper to capture it when it arrived it would be lost forever.  That's the first time I'd heard someone describe the creative gift that appears out of the blue every once in a while as I have always felt it.  It that "train" that I felt coming a long while ago and I leapt aboard  - performing never leaves the soul.
